FRITZ HANSEN Kaiser Idell Luxus matt black chrome

Design table lamp Kaiser idell™ Luxury with matt lacquered, chrome frame The special thing about this table lamp, which was already designed in the last century in the thirties, is its appearance. At that time, the Bauhaus style in which the Kaiser idell™ lamp series was designed embodied the dawn of modernity with its characteristic sphere, cylinder and circle shapes. Even almost a century later, this style has lost none of its fascination. The Kaiser idell™ Luxus table lamp can be placed anywhere, but is best suited as desk lighting due to its asymmetrical shade with patented swivel joint. The two-colour design has a very decorative effect. While the shade was painted colored matt, the frame made of brass shines with a noble chrome plating. Christian Dell (1893-1974), the creative mind behind the designs for the Kaiser idell™ lamp series, was born in Offenbach, trained as a silversmith in Hanau and also attended drawing school there. He then studied for two years at the Saxon School of Applied Arts in Weimar under Henry van de Velde. Later (1922-1925) he became master craftsman of the metal workshop at the Bauhaus Weimar. Afterwards he took over the direction of the Frankfurt art school. His design style was considered very innovative and trend-setting. In 1936, the first idell catalogue featured the Kaiser idell™ Luxus table lamp for the first time. It quickly became the top model of the Kaiser idell™ series - a synonym of noble German design, which was precisely implemented by hand and machine using exquisite materials. Today, the Kaiser idell™ Luxus table lamp is produced by the Danish company FRITZ HANSEN, a traditional company founded by the carpenter Fritz Hansen in 1872, which was purely family-owned for over 100 years and 75% of which passed to Skandinavisk Holding in 1979. The company FRITZ HANSEN stands for the high-quality implementation of the designs of well-known designers.
