The Black Out series designed by Matteo Ugolini also follows this pattern. The Black Out LED pendant luminaire is particularly effective in an otherwise dark environment, such as the power outage that gave it its name. Its shade consists of a weave of fibreglass threads that are spun around a rotating form during production until only small gaps remain. Above a terrace table, for example, the shade open at the bottom provides direct lighting.
