The innovative thing about Bourgie is the idea of making a table lamp which uses classic, baroque patterns and stylistic elements from the modern material plastic. To increase the ease of use, the light has been equipped with a dimmer. The Italian company Kartell is known for its innovations made of plastic. Since the 1950s, designers have designed furniture, household items and lights made of plastic for the Milan-based company. Over the years, Kartell has not only received a number of design awards for this, but has also set up its own museum which preserves and highlights the cultural, intangible and material heritage of the company.
