Northern Dokka pendant light beige

Brand: Northern from Lights.co.uk
Dokka pendant lamp - a real classic in the history of Norwegian design The Dokka pendant lamp is made of durable, long-lasting steel, optically absolutely relies on rich and natural tones and brings them into a harmonious balance. There was a conscious decision not to use flourishes or decorative details, so as not to distract from the essentials. The lamp stands out for its clear, curved shapes and proportions. Especially the thoughtful details distinguish this lamp. The two-tone, funnel-shaped steel shade creates a very special lighting effect. The direction of light is directed directly downwards and serves an ever-increasing angle through the funnel shape. Due to the white color of the shade from the inside, the light comes out even brighter. The matte outer surface of Dokka and the small brass ring that seems to lace the shade, form valuable and elegant details that make the pendant lamp look even more appealing. Dokka pendant lamp was designed in 1954 by pioneer and Norwegian lighting designer Birger Dahl, and was the first lamp from Norway to be awarded the Golden Medal at the prestigious Triennale di Milano. The lamp is known for sleek contours and precise proportions. Dokka became one of the best-selling pendant lamps ever made in Norway, and then disappeared when the previous manufacturer discontinued its lighting program. In 2007 Northern relaunched Dokka, with particular emphasis on preserving the features that made it a classic. The Norwegian brand Northern was founded in 2005 by Ove Rogne, whose designs are also part of the company's extensive portfolio, and three other friends in the Norwegian capital Oslo. They attach great importance to preserving Scandinavian design traditions and interpreting them in a modern way.
