Record Power Record Power FM25 Floor Standing Mortising Machine 1 Cap Sliding Table Stand

Mortice and tenon joints are the single most common joint used in woodworking due to their structural integrity and simplicity, but cutting accurate mortices by hand is a laborious and tricky job. This machine makes accurate and repeated cutting of mortices easy. A hollow square chisel with bit (not supplied) is driven into the timber to produce clean sided square holes. The width of the hole is affected by the size of chisel and bit chosen and if it needs to be bigger than the maximum chisel size the table can slide forward or backwards by simple handwheel adjustment for another series of perfectly parallel cuts to be made, the depth is set on the machine with simple stops for repeatable accuracy. The length of the mortice is increased by moving the table laterally, also on a simple slide operated with a separate handwheel. The head driving the chisel is easily lowered toward the timber with a large handle assisted by rack and pinion and returns to the starting position with the aid of a gas strut. Construction is of heavy cast iron with machined dovetail slides and gib strips for easy adjustment
